Event dedicated to Armenian Army Day held in Zakho

On January 26, an event dedicated to the 26th anniversary of the formation of the army of the Republic of Armenia was held in the city of Zakho of Iraqi Kurdistan. The event was organized by the local Armenian community and attended by Consul of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Iraq Smbat Khachatryan, representatives of the Armenian-populated villages of Havres and Avzruk, as well as the pastor of the Armenian community of Dahok and representatives of Armenian community organizations.

In his opening remarks, pastor of the Armenian community of Zakho, Priest Mambre Hmaiagian presented the symbol of the day and the achievements that the Armenian Army has made over the past 26 years. The Consul of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia also delivered a speech.

The event featured performances of Armenian patriotic songs by Artsakh Choir of Zakho, which also recited poems devoted to patriotism.

At the end, Consul Smbat Khachatryan awarded chairperson of the council of the Armenian community of Zakho Ishkhan Sarkisian and members of  the council Mourad Ghazarian, Isa Hagopian, Khatchig Mkhitarian and Serop Bedrosian the certificates of appreciation of the Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia for the significant contributions that they have made to preserve the Armenian community during war.
