Delegation of the Iraqi Ministry of Communications visited Armenia

 On August the 14th, 2017, Mr. Boris Demirkhanyan, Deputy Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies of Armenia, received the delegation of the Iraqi Ministry of Communications, led by Mr. Kassim AL-Hassani, Acting Director of the IraqiTelecommunication and post Company.

Upon welcoming the guests, Mr. Boris Demirkhanyan introduced the fields and directions on which discussions and meetings would be held during the delegation’s 3-days stay in Armenia.  
 
Meetings with the Armenian universities and several science-research institutes, large telecommunication operators and IT companies are planned to be held during the meeting at the Ministry’s suggestion. 
 
The field of telecommunication was touched upon during the meeting. The Deputy Minister presented the internet accessibility indicators in Armenia, the operators’ work, the new invested technologies. 
 
Mr. Nadim Lafta Khajur Al-Elaeuvi emphasized that the delegation’s purpose of visit was to found ways of cooperation in this field and exchange of experience on infrastructures in Armenia.
 
The parties also discussed the approaches of the two countries to create a Data Center. The Iraqi side informed that was also interested in the Data Center establishing project and preliminary steps had already been taken in that direction.
 
The TRBN representative shared the experience of the Armenian digital television investment. The guests made inquiries in the details of the process and informed that they were going to implement a digital TV project and cooperation was possible in this direction. The possibilities of cooperation on the satellite programs were also discussed. 
 
Since there are many possible directions of cooperation, the parties noted that following the summarizing and generalization of the results of the first visit, the further steps of bilateral cooperation will be taken.
